Zac and I went here on a whim and it was the best place we have been to in SLC. It was 10 steps above Tucanos or Rodizios with out-of-this world service and atmosphere. I love the feeling of City Creek anyway, but Texas de Brazil just adds to the cool downtown feeling.
We thought it was around the same pricing as Tucanos ($22/person or so) so we thought we'd splurge...imagine our surprise when Zac was talking to the hostess and I saw in small print the pricing was $42/person! I nudged him and thus ensued a whispered, through-gritted teeth conversation...
"..Maybe we should leave?"
"I don't know...what do you think?" (this is all in barely discernible, English, remember)
Ok, just use the other VISA.
So off we go, to spend what we would on 2 weeks worth of groceries, but I have to admit it was worth it. We dined like kings and laughed half the meal because it was stupid-good. Our waiter noticed we were devouring the cinnamon, deep-fried bananas and brought out more, while swiping the crumbs off our table and folding my napkin any time I was off at the salad bar.
And that salad bar--it wasn't like Tucano's (which I quite like) but even better. Prusciutto, goat cheese dip, shrimp, olives, lobster bisque...I can't accurately describe it more than saying that we kept giggling the whole time we circled around it. The meat was so succulent....wow. And the key lime pie for dessert was the best key lime I've ever had.
Word to the wise, though---when your waiter says, "Spring or sparkling water?" say neither---we got charged $11 for some fancy spring water from Europe or something, thinking it was free. Whoops!
See that marble holder and fancy blue bottle? That would be the $11 water.
So, we won't be buying groceries for two weeks, but hey! it was worth it. We dined like kings and had a ball.
