Sapa Sushi Bar & Asian Grill
722 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111
4 out of 5 stars)
Being that I'm a quarter Asian and Zac lived in Japan, we consider ourselves sushi-snobs. Yes, I coined that term. So when Sapa was recommended to us, we somewhat turned up our noses. "Oh, we've been to Simply Sushi, and Takashi downtown...are you sure?" But we relented and went, and we're glad we did. Don't judge by exteriors when you pull up. Ignore the punks outside the huka bar next to it and go in, because,(see to your right) the place is ornately decorated with a beautiful Japanese garden outside. The sushi is pretty inexpensive, with fun rolls like "Luscious Lovers" topped with thin strawberry slices (like sushi chefs do best) or Maui Wowie with macademia nuts and some sort of I-feel-like-I'm-in-heaven sauce. The mussel appetizer is great, too. I know what you're thinking..."Mussels?! #@$*" but they were what sold me on the place.
